Pavel Filev at Art Expo gave a presentation on the history and production of pearls

In the 4th Art Fair, in the organization of the Association of Women in Budva, there was held the presentation on the history and production of pearls.

- The pearl from Ohrid is one tradition that has eighty years of temporal distance. In this time period there has varied program of pearls, the necklace the most classical modernist solutions to the present, said at the presentation of Pavel Fileva, one of the most famous producer of pearls in Ohrid.

The pearl from Ohrid is made from fish named plašica, which is endemic in Ohrid.

Pearly white pearls is obtained from the scales from the ventral side of the fish.

The Family Filev uses several techniques for the production of pearls, from filigree to those that are made in gold.

The visitors, after the presentation, had a chance to see live Ohrid pearls that are worn by girls from Budva, Sveti Stefan and Petrovac, and that the same compartment on the spot.

They were also able to learn how to distinguish real from fake pearls, when the pearls are paying, how to protect and so forth.
